Autospeed are motorsport promoters who stage short oval racing in the westcountry, at Smeatharpe Stadium on the Devon-Somerset border, and at the United Downs Raceway, St Day – commonly known as The Last Raceway in view of its location in the far south west, and its standing as the only remaining Stock Car circuit in Cornwall.
Stock Car racing offers a fun family day out. Typically a race day begins with an hour of pre-meeting practice from 11:30, the Grand Parade at 12:45 and then racing from 13:00. In general terms, a race day would have up to 15 races, at a rate of approximately four races per hour, making for a programme of three and a half to four hours.
Both venues have some seated areas, open areas, and great views of all of the track (less than a quarter of a mile in length). There are no access restrictions to the Pit Area, where there is the opportunity to chat with drivers and close-up to the race cars.
